Beyonce is donating school supplies to Philly children
Beyonce will be donating school supplies and to about 2,000 Philadelphia schoolchildren as part of an initiative involving her charity, #BeyGOOD and a Brooklyn-based company called STATE Bags.
Philly was selected as one of six cities to be blessed by the Queen.
Beyoncé will be donating school supplies to about 2,000 Philadelphia schoolchildren as part of an initiative involving her charity, #BeyGOOD and a Brooklyn-based company committed to helping community children in need called STATE Bags.
With the ever-embattled state of Philly schools, we'll take all the help we can get — even if, as my coworker pointed out, it may be just an underhanded attempt to use charity as a reason to promote Beyoncé's new line of school supplies. Now your kindergartener's pencil case can be as #FLAWLESS as #BEYONCÉ herself.
#BeyGOOD x STATE Bags has pledged to donate to underfunded school systems on the East coast. Other cities include Baltimore, Charlotte, N.C., Washington, D.C., Newark, N.J., and New York City.
Philly will get its own #BeyGOOD X STATE Bags pep rally (Queen Bey sighting, anyone?) on Aug. 27 at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Philadelphia at 2901 Bridge St. Students will be given a #BeyGOOD X STATE backpack and have the chance to fill their new gear with school supplies.
In addition, any bag bought or donation made on statebags.com will help support this project. For a limited time, all proceeds from the purchase of a $125 #BeyGOOD X STATE backpack made on Beyoncé's online shop will go toward this back-to-school initiative.
