Kate Upton covers June issue of 'Vogue'
From Sports Illustrated to fashion's bible, it's all in a day's work for Kate Upton.
From posing in a swimsuit on the cover of Sports Illustrated to gracing the cover of fashion's bible, albeit in a swimsuit again, "America's favorite bombshell" Kate Upton has accomplished another major victory: Capturing the heart of Anna Wintour.
The 20-year-old supermodel covers the June issue of Vogue, in photos shot by the legendary Mario Testino and an accompanying profile written by Lizzie Widdicombe, who takes a close look at Upton's meteoric rise to popularity. Simply put, the Internet loves her. The writer notes that "Kate Upton" was Yahoo's fourth-most-popular search term, after "Election," "iPhone5" and "Kim Kardashian." Upton's Terry Richardson-shot "Cat Daddy" video along with the clip of her doing the "Dougie" show a goofy nature to a drop dead gorgeous girl, who practically defies the present-day stereotype applicable to most supers. She has personality and a mean set of curves. Here are a few highlights from the piece.
On the dispute over her weight:
"The things that they're rejecting are things that I can't change. I can't change my bra size. They're natural! I can work out and I can stay healthy and motivated, but I can't change some things. I really just live my life. I love my body. It's what God gave me! I feel confident with myself, and if that inspires other women to feel confident with their bodies, great."
Michael Kors on Upton's weight:
"It harks back to the seventies, when we first had models like Patti Hansen and Christie Brinkley. They were sexy, but they were also athletic. And I think that Kate is very much that. You see her, and her skin is glowing; she's got a gorgeous smile. It's optimistic. It's not about a sad girl on the corner. It's about a girl who's enjoying herself."
What Upton eats:
"When it comes to meals, 'I'm not, like, a robot,' Upton says. 'I have different rules at different times.' Following her trainer Kirsch's advice to eat 'anything that flies or swims,' she sticks to chicken or fish, plus veggies. Which means that famous commercial of her sensually devouring a Carl's Jr. cheeseburger? 'No,' she says, shaking her head. 'I can't do that.'"
Also, she's single, wants to have her own lingerie line, and continues to pursue stardom, which she foresees as a career in acting. Upton has previously covered Vogue Italia and British Vogue. This is her first US Vogue cover.
The issue hits newsstands on May 21. Read the full profile, here.
