Katie Holmes tells 'Allure' she wants 2013 to be 'peaceful'

Splashed across the cover of Allure's April issue is Katie Holmes, who says she wants 2013 to be "a peaceful year for a lot of people." Including herself.

In June 2012, the beauty filed for divorce from Tom Cruise after five years of marriage. Although Holmes remains mum on her split from Hollywood's lead actor, the 34-year-old actress tells the publication that she is "open" to expanding her family in the future.

Makeup artist Dotti's secret ingredient to Holmes' smoldering-but-clean look on the cover was the use of a clear balm. Dotti first lined Katie's signature doe eyes with black and brown pencils, then layered clear balm on her eyelids, and applied black mascara to enhance Holmes's features. She also applied clear balm to the cover girl's lips after using concealer on her pout as a base.

The face of Bobbi Brown also shares the best beauty advice she's ever received from her mother: "'You may be pretty, and you may be talented, but nobody will remember that if you're mean.'"
