Primetime beauty: NBC10 anchor Jacqueline London reveals her favorite beauty products and local beauty must-haves

“She always looks nice,” remarks my mom while watching the nightly news on Channel 10. I nod my head in agreement after turning to the TV and admiring News Anchor Jacqueline London, who’s shiny hair, flawless skin, and perfectly applied (but yet not overpowering) makeup, is a fresh approach to the traditional ‘news anchor’ look.

“She always looks nice,” remarks my mom while watching the nightly news on Channel 10. I nod my head in agreement after turning to the TV and admiring news anchor Jacqueline London, whose shiny hair, flawless skin and perfectly applied (but, yet, not overpowering) makeup is a fresh approach to the traditional "news anchor" look.

While genetics may set the stage, looking that good on HDTV also requires the right products in the hands of gifted professionals.

London gives us the scoop on her beauty secrets from her favorite mascara to where she heads to in Philly when it's time to get glammed.

Beauty inspiration:

"My beauty inspiration definitely came from my mom. She always keeps herself so well put together and polished. As a little girl, I always remember being in awe when she would get really glammed up for Black-tie events. She clearly set the standard of what I continue to strive towards. I wasn't allowed to wear makeup growing up, but my sister and I realized that if we pinched our cheeks hard enough, it would look as though we had blush on. I think that's when the addiction began."

Differences in beauty from Chicago (where's she's from) to Florida (where she lived) to Philly:

"As for regional differences, heavy moisturizers are essential in the Midwest and Northeast. There's so much humidity in Florida that it's less of a challenge there to keep the skin and hair hydrated.

I think there are definite similarities between Chicago and Philadelphia when it comes to the approach to beauty. Florida however, is all about flip-flops, maxi dresses year-round, and a dab of lip gloss to complete the look. Pastel colors are much more acceptable and almost expected in Florida. Darker, rich colors seem to be more the norm here. I also didn't know what a puffy coat was before I moved here, now you won't see me without one in the winter. It's such a fashionable way to stay warm and I'm amazed how even the lightweight ones can keep you so warm."

At home makeup routine:

"When I'm not on camera, I try to stay away from any heavy makeup. My beauty routine away from the camera generally involves a Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, a little mascara, and lip gloss. I love strolling Center City with jeans and a simple t-shirt. I savor being as comfy and casual as possible on relaxed weekends."

On-camera beauty:

"It's hard to hide much with HDTV. Everything is exposed. I've always been told that less is more with high definition, so lighter makeup application and less powder seem to offer a more flattering look. Too much face powder can settle into fine lines & be very obvious on those larger-than-life TV screens. It's a constant work in progress to try to achieve a flawless look in HD."

Favorite Makeup Products:

"I love Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effect Faux Cils mascara in Noir Radical. I've recently become obsessed with some of the Buxom lip glosses and the Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes. I'm like a kid in a candy store in Sephora."

Favorite Hair Products:

"For hair products, I adore Kérastase. I've definitely tried my share of shampoos and conditioners, and I think Kérastase is the absolute gold standard. I love how my hair responds to it."

Skin Care Routine:

"Since we have to wear so much makeup for TV, taking it off properly at the end of the night is imperative. I use a Clarisonic brush to remove all makeup at the end of the night. Our makeup artist, Christina SanClemente, came from Estee Lauder and convinced me to try Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair serum. It was a game changer. I apply that before bedtime now along with a great moisturizer (I love, Fresh Creme Ancienne or Revive Moisturizing Renewal Cream). I buy many of my faves at Blue Mercury in Center City. It's such a cool space."

Go-to local beauty professionals:

For hair:  "Sofia Smith at Salon Thalia in Center City, Philadelphia. She keeps my hair so healthy and well-conditioned, and does a killer blow-out without applying too much heat."

For makeup: "Christina SanClemente. She knows how to effortlessly take a look from day to night. She's also mastered the art of the Eyebrow, which is not easy to do...and this season it seems to be all about the Eyebrow."
