Hiroshi Tanahashi scheduled to appear at Ring of Honor-New Japan Pro Wrestling shows in Philadelphia

When Philadelphia fans witness both of Ring of Honor's joint shows with New Japan Pro Wrestling in May, they will get to see New Japan's top star in person.

Ring of Honor officially announced Wednesday that former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi will appear on all four of the promotion's joint shows with New Japan Pro Wrestling, including both of the shows that will emanate from the 2300 Arena in South Philadelphia titled War of the Worlds on Tuesday, May 12 and Wednesday May 13.

Ring of Honor said in a press release that the May 13 show is sold out, but tickets are still available for the May 12 show.

Tanahashi is currently the top man in Japanese wrestling and is widely regarded as one of the best in-ring performers in the world by fans and his peers. His accolades include winning the IWGP Heavyweight Championship on seven occasions, winning the IWGP Intercontinental Championship once and being a two-time IWGP Tag Team Champion.

Ring of Honor also announced Wednesday that it will be producing another show from MCU Park in Brooklyn, N.Y. titled Field of Honor on Saturday, Aug. 22.

Currently scheduled to appear are Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Briscoe, Ring of Honor World Television Champion Jay Briscoe, Ring of Honor World Tag Team Champions reDragon, Mark Briscoe and The Kingdom.
