NXT television report (05/04/16): Welcome to NXT, Eric Young

There was not much to take away from this week's episode of NXT except for one major happening.

That happening was the debut of former TNA World Heavyweight champion Eric Young. Young didn't waste any time either, as he immediately interrupted Samoa Joe's first live promo since winning the NXT championship from Finn Balor a couple of weeks ago.

Seeing Young in a dueling promo with Joe was very odd to see on WWE television, considering this would have fit right in with TNA programming a little more than a year ago, but this is the current state of professional wrestling.

Young essentially laid down a challenge to Joe, saying that he wanted to add to his championship collection.

Young asked and he quickly received, as he got a match with Joe in the main event.

The match was good, but it wasn't really about Young and him making an immediate impact in his debut. It was mostly about showcasing Joe as NXT's dominant champion.

Consider that mission accomplished.

Young got his share of offense in, but Joe dictated the pace and eventually choked Young out.

Welcome to NXT, E.Y.

Elsewhere on the program, we got another appearance from No Way Jose. He defeated a no-name wrestler, but he was definitely over with the NXT fans, as I thought he would be.

Given some time, he could be one of the main draws for NXT at some point simply because his character is a lot of fun.

With that said, here are the match results:

- Nia Jax def. Tessa Blanchard

- Austin Aries def. Tye Dillinger

- The Revival def. The Hype Bros

- No Way Jose def. Noah Potjes

- Samoa Joe def. Eric Young
