Report: UFC star Ronda Rousey open to having a match at WrestleMania 31
UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey is open to potentially stepping into the squared circle for a wrestling match for WWE, according to a report from TMZ.com.
The rumors began spreading when Rousey posted an Instagram video (seen below) of her and her roommate Shayna Baszler working a match in a wrestling ring. It looked more like innocent fun and than intense training and preparation, but according to sources to close Rousey, she is open to putting her UFC career temporarily on hold to potentially appear at WrestleMania XXXI next year in Santa Clara, Calif. Rousey is a California native.
Rousey reportedly doesn't want to come into WWE alone. She wants to come in with fellow fighters Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke. Collectively, they call themselves the Four Horsewomen, which is in homage to the Four Horsemen of pro wrestling.
The group even takes pictures together holding up four fingers to signify the four of them, just like Ric Flair, Arn and Ole Anderson and Tully Blanchard used to do.
Rousey's professional wrestling influence doesn't end there. Her nickname "Rowdy" comes from Roddy Piper.
If Rousey indeed wants to appear at WrestleMania XXXI and goes through with it, she will be the first active MMA fighter to work a match at WrestleMania.
