Ring of Honor, Destination America agree to television deal

In a shocking turn of events, Destination America and Ring of Honor announced Wednesday that the two parties have entered a television agreement, and will begin airing 26 weeks of television on Wednesday, June 3 at 8 p.m.

While Ring of Honor landing a national television deal isn't all that shocking, what did take the wrestling world by surprise was that Destination America is the current home of TNA Wrestling's flagship show, Impact Wrestling.

The news comes a week after Destination America was reportedly opting out of its current agreement with TNA Wrestling at the end of the financial quarter in September.

For the time being, Impact Wrestling will still air on Destination America, including on June 3 at 9 p.m., right after Ring of Honor.

"We are very excited to be partnering with Destination America for the broader distribution of the ROH programming," said Ring of Honor Chief Operating Officer Joe Koff in a press release. "ROH will now reach an additional 57 million households including those in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and other large cities where Ring of Honor is not currently airing.

Ring of Honor has a loyal fan base and is one of the fastest growing major wrestling franchises in the country. With this great partnership with Destination America, we can continue to expand our footprint and reach while producing entertaining, original content and continuing to provide wrestling fans some of the best wrestling content available."

"With the electric and intense matches that Ring of Honor provides, Destination America is the network for fans to get an entire evening of jaw-dropping entertainment on Wednesday nights," Destination America's general manager Marc Etkind said in a press release. "Ring of Honor showcases tenacity, athleticism and passion and it serves as the place where America's favorite stars are born."

The news not only took wrestling fans and pundits by surprise, it also took members of both the Ring of Honor and TNA locker room by surprise as well.

It was especially surprising to TNA, as members of the roster apparently found out when the rest of the world did.

We'll have more on this when information becomes available.
