Sting announced as pre-order bonus for WWE 2K15

Wrestling fans finally got an official answer as to what "07.14.14" meant Monday night, and the answer left the wrestling world buzzing.

The WWE officially announced the inclusion of wrestling legend Sting (real name Steve Borden) in the WWE 2K15 video game, which will be released Oct. 28.

Two different versions of Sting will be included in the game as a pre-order bonus. One version will be of him during his colorful, bleach blonde days of the early 1990s. The other will be the darker, longhaired version of him that made him a superstar later in the decade.

Sting posted the mysterious "07.14.14" tweet July 8.

While many reported it had something to do with his inclusion in the game, it wasn't officially announced until Monday.

The significance of this goes far beyond a video game, however, as it is the first time Sting has been involved with the WWE on a business level. To what extent the role Sting will play besides being the video game is not yet known.

Despite numerous opportunities to do so in the past, Sting always declined to work for the WWE. Sting has spent the vast majority of his career working for World Championship Wrestling and eventually TNA Wrestling, but is now in the fold with the WWE for the first time.

The WWE has welcomed him with open arms. The company already has Sting merchandise available for purchase on its web site.
