WWE Monday Night Raw results and observations (9/25/17): Everyone hates Enzo Amore

The post-No Mercy edition of Raw wasn't a great show by any stretch of the imagination, but it was an interesting one, as it planted the seeds for some things that could be worth tuning in to see every Monday night.

While that was going on inside the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., Bullet Club staged a D-Generation X-style invasion of Raw that included Cody (don't say Rhodes) giving the president's speech from Independence Day.

Here are the full match results from the :

- Matt Hardy & Jason Jordan def. Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas

- Elias def. Apollo Crews

- Braun Strowman def. Dean Ambrose

- Seth Rollins def. Sheamus

- Roman Reigns def. The Miz

- Finn Balor def. Goldust

- Sasha Banks & Bayley def. Nia Jax & Emma

The cruiserweights despise Enzo Amore

For the first time in possibly the history of the revamped cruiserweight division, the guys that weigh less than 205 pounds got to close an episode of Raw, and that was mostly due to Amore being the new Cruiserweight champion.

Amore has been a babyface for the entirety of his run on the main roster, but that came to a screeching halt Monday night, as he gleefully gloated about being champion and how he was doing something that the other cruiserweights could not: make 205 Live and the division as a whole relevant.

On one hand, Amore has got a point. On the other, he came across as an annoying twerp that was begging to get his butt whooped.

Fortunately for Amore, he was protected by a clause Raw general manager Kurt Angle signed that banned anyone from touching him during his celebration.

If the clause were to be broken, the person that committed the act would give up a chance at the Cruiserweight championship.

The stars of the cruiserweight division — babyfaces and heels — walked onto the stage during Amore's rant. Since none of them could lay a hand on Amore, they all kept their distance.

Amore proceeded to verbally thrash each member of the division before former champion Neville made his way to the stage looking completely distraught over losing his title to Amore.

Neville seemingly didn't care about Amore's clause. After he talked about how no one likes Amore, Neville marched down to the ring and beat the daylights out of Amore, forfeiting a chance at the Cruiserweight title in the process.

Amore tried to escape, but the other cruiserweights forced him to go back to the ring to deal with Amore. I don't know why Amore didn't just run through the pack of sub-205 pounders, as anyone preventing him from leaving would have lost their shot at the title.

Instead, Amore simply backed off instead and took more punishment from Neville, who even broke out the red arrow to polish off the new champ.

Once the broadcast was off the air, Braun Strowman stomped to the ring and doled out more punishment to Amore.

But wait, there is so much more!

Then, the entire cruiserweight division hopped into the ring and surrounded Amore. They then began punching him all around the ring.

Brian Kendrick and Drew Gulak each gave him an airplane spin, Cedric Alexander hit the lumbar check and Mustafa Ali capped it off by hitting a reverse 450 splash.

Gulak, the leader of the "No Fly Zone," didn't initially want Ali to go to the top rope, but backed off his stance just this one time and allowed Ali to put the finishing touches on Amore.

That segment was a showcase of why Amore was inserted into the cruiserweight division to begin with. What he lacks in in-ring ability compared to his peers he more than makes up for when it comes to charisma and investment from the fans.

There are few people that could have made that segment work. Amore is one of them.

Also, this is the most intriguing storyline in ages involving the cruiserweights.

I saw a lot of fans say after No Mercy that Amore's championship victory signaled the death of the cruiserweight division, but after Monday night, it might have given it some new life.

The Miz-tourage mocked The Shield

Fans have been clamoring for The Shield to reunite essentially since the trio broke up back in 2014, but Monday night was the biggest indication that Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose may finally get back together.

Why might this happen? Because of the tremendous work of The Miz and his running mates, Axel and Dallas.

As we learned at No Mercy Sunday, Raw was going to open with another edition of Miz TV, as Reigns was slated to be his guest.

Reigns and The Miz exchanged some heated words, which included The Miz talking about how he and his buds would have dominated The Shield.

Reigns all but laughed off that notion and challenged The Miz to a fight. The Miz was not having any of it, insisting that he had to be home with his pregnant wife Maryse.

Angle then stepped in and made a match between the two men for later in the night.

The match went exactly most would have expected, as Reigns speared The Miz to pick up the victory.

However, that didn't stop The Miz, Axel and Dallas from beating the daylights out of Reigns after the match thanks to some steel chairs.

All three men then stood over Reigns' broken body and mocked The Shield's pose while the fans called for Rollins and Ambrose to help. They didn't show up this week, but that doesn't mean they won't show up next week or the week after.

Although Reigns pretty much shot down a Shield reunion during the Miz TV segment, it feels pretty obvious that it is going to happen sooner rather than later.

As for next week, Reigns will challenge The Miz for the Intercontinental championship.

Strowman was on a path of destruction

Before he destroyed Amore, Strowman put the Raw roster on notice that he was not happy about losing to Brock Lesnar at No Mercy and that he was on a path of destruction.

Strowman made that quite clear after laying waste to Curt Hawkins, who was looking to break his 115-match losing streak, only to be slammed through the LED board on the stage.

It wasn't technically a loss for Hawkins, but he certainly didn't come away a winner either.

After balling up Hawkins, Strowman demanded some real competition. Ambrose was the only person crazy enough to answer his challenge.

Ambrose put up a good fight, but eventually succumbed to the running power slam and lost.

I know some people were concerned that Strowman may have lost some momentum after losing to Lesnar, but all it took was one segment and one match for him to get it right back.

Later in the show, Rollins told Ambrose that he intended on challenging Strowman next week.

Mickie James wanted Alexa Bliss to say it to her face

Ever since Bliss came over to Raw, she has been taking shots at James and the fact that she has been in the wrestling business for a long time.

Bliss never misses a chance to make some sort of snide remark about James' experience.

Apparently, James has heard enough and isn't going to take it anymore, as she confronted Bliss Monday night.

James didn't cut a tremendous promo, but she did send a direct shot across the brow of Bliss by saying she still wears a training bra, which received a fantastic reaction from Bliss.

I don't expect anything to come from this other than James keeping Bliss busy until Asuka arrives on Raw, but for one night, this was pretty entertaining and will hopefully make for a good match or two.
