WWE NXT results and observations (3/29/17): Elias Samson has finally drifted away from NXT

The theme of this week's episode of NXT was finality, as it was the promotion's final episode of television before NXT Takeover: Orlando, and the final night for either Kassius Ohno or Elias Samson, who faced each other in a Loser Leaves NXT match.

We start there, as Ohno defeated Samson in a decent match to send Samson packing. Samson has officially drifted away from NXT, if you will.

After the match, officials informed Samson that he had lost and per the stipulations, he had to immediately leave the building. Samson was quite reluctant in leaving, which forced a fleet of security guards to drag him away.

Samson pleaded with the security guards to let him stay, but agreed to leave under the condition that they let him retrieve his guitar. Unfortunately for Samson, Ohno got his hands on the guitar first and smashed it just as Samson was reaching for it.

Samson was distraught by what happened to his guitar, but had little time to grieve, as he was dragged out of NXT for good.

For someone that NXT fans detested so much, I would have thought his exit would have been met with much more adulation. Surprisingly, the fans at CFE Arena in Orlando, Fla. were relatively tame during Samson's forced departure.

Samson's exit will probably mean that he is finally drifting up to the main roster after WrestleMania.

While that was the ending of one NXT career, the beginning of another took place Wednesday, as Heavy Machinery became a full-time part of NXT television with an easy win over Mike Marshall — better known as Q.T. Marshall — and Jonathan Ortagun.

Heavy Machinery debuted as a team during last year's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but had not been on television much since. After a couple of weeks of vignettes, Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic seem to finally be fixtures on NXT television.

The show opened with a triple threat between Johnny Gargano, Dash Wilder and Akam of the Authors of Pain, as all three men represented the teams that will square off for NXT Tag Team titles at NXT Takeover: Orlando.

Gargano and Akam did most of the work, as Wilder and his partner Scott Dawson left during the match.

After Akam delivered a vicious power bomb to Gargano, Dawson re-appeared at ringside and grabbed Akam's leg, which allowed Wilder to slide into the ring, cover Gargano and pick up the victory.

The rest of the program was dedicated to hyping up NXT Takeover: Orlando. There was a video package dedicated to the NXT championship match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode and a contract signing for the NXT Women's title bout between Asuka and Ember Moon.

Asuka was her usual cocky self during the contract signing, as she snickered in laughter at the mere mention of Moon's name. Moon didn't the blatant show of disrespect faze her, as she warned Asuka that she was more than ready to challenge the undefeated champion.

Asuka scoffed at Moon's warning, signed the contract and walked away.

Here are the full match results:
