WWE NXT takes over Tower Theater in Philadelphia

For the third consecutive night, Philadelphia hosted a major wrestling event.

After back-to-back nights of Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling, WWE's developmental program NXT took center stage for its own set of back-to-back events.

The line outside the Tower Theater in Upper Darby was literally around the block before doors opened, and it was filled with fans anticipating arguably the hottest brand in wrestling to emanate from the city for the first time.

Once inside, the fans created a very raucous atmosphere that persisted throughout the show. The Philadelphia fans were loud and made it quite clear whom they did and did not like.

Paul "Triple H" Levesque, WWE's executive vice president of talent, live events and creative, made a cameo appearance before the main event and praised the fans for crating such a memorable atmosphere.

As for said main event, it was a match between Sasha Banks and Charlotte for the NXT Women's championship. The women are not in the main events of the main shows, but on NXT, the women are prominently featured to the point that them being in the main event of a show of this magnitude isn't all that big of a milestone.

Also making an appearance during the show was WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley, who praised the Philadelphia fans and the NXT product. He and Joey Styles were also involved in the match between Baron Corbin and Rhyno. After defeating Rhyno, Corbin challenged Foley and Styles to bring another ECW original to the show Friday. Foley and Styles said that they were going to oblige.

Another highlight from the show was NXT general manager William Regal announcing that Kevin Owens would be defending his NXT Championship against Finn Balor Friday night. Balor also announced that he was bringing his demon character out for the match
