WWE Smackdown Live results and observations (10/24/17): The blue brand prepares for retaliation from Raw

After chaos consumed the ending of Raw Monday, fans fully expected some more chaos to occur on Smackdown Live Tuesday in Milwaukee.

However, that was not the case.

What we did get to see was another solid installment of the blue brand, as it is slowly building to Survivor Series and beyond.

Before I delve into my full analysis, here are the full match results from the BMO Harris Bank Bradley Center:

- Shelton Benjamin & Chad Gable def. The New Day

- Sin Cara def. Baron Corbin via disqualification

- AJ Styles def. Sunil Singh

- Becky Lynch def. Carmella, Charlotte Flair, Tamina & Naomi

- Randy Orton def. Sami Zayn

No retaliation from Raw

It would have been very easy for Raw general manager Kurt Angle to rally the troops and seek retribution on Smackdown Live for its ambush Monday night, but WWE showed restraint, and chose not to give that away just yet.

Survivor Series is a little less than a month away, so WWE is making what I believe to be the smart call in using the slow burn approach to this storyline.

There are probably some fans that were hoping that Raw would retaliate right away. In theory, it would be smart for Angle to take his time, regroup and methodically map out his next move.

It was also smart of WWE to make sure that Smackdown Live commissioner Shane McMahon and the rest of the roster was prepared for a potential attack.

McMahon said that there was security in and outside of the building Tuesday guarding against a Raw invasion.

I also thought it was smart of WWE to have Smackdown Live general manager Daniel Bryan to play the voice of reason in all of this, as he revealed Tuesday that he never signed off on Smackdown Live's preemptive strike.

Bryan warned McMahon that a receipt from Raw was coming, and that whatever the consequences are will fall on McMahon and McMahon alone.

Smackdown Live forming its male team

Although Angle apparently has five men ready to go for his men's Survivor Series team, Smackdown Live is making its superstars earn their way onto the team by way of qualifying matches.

The first qualifying match took place this past Tuesday night with Orton defeating Zayn to earn his spot on the squad.

Zayn received a brief assist from Kevin Owens, but it was ultimately to no avail, as Orton returned the favor to Zayn by using a low blow followed by an RKO to pick up the win.

Next week, there will be two more qualifying contests. One will feature Owens, as he will vie for a spot at Survivor Series against Shinsuke Nakamura, who did not appear on television this week.

The other match will be a rubber match between Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler, which will be a best 2-out-of-3 falls bout.

Lynch is captaining Smackdown's women's Survivor Series team

Since there are so few women on both Raw and Smackdown Live, the latter brand already has its five women ready for Survivor Series.

Flair, Naomi, Carmella, Tamina will represent Smackdown Live. They will be led team captain Lynch, who earned the proverbial "C" on her proverbial sweater by winning a fatal five-way Tuesday.

I'm not sure what being the captain of the team means, but it is apparently important in WWE's eyes. It's not like Lynch now gets to go out and recruit women to her team. The team is already set.

But I guess it's a nice consolation for Lynch, who has been rarely seen on WWE television lately.

Sin Cara toppled Corbin again

For the second week in a row, Sin Cara defeated Corbin, although he did not look like a winner at the end of the night.

Last week, Sin Cara won by count out. This week, he won by disqualification after Corbin refused to adhere to the referee's five count.

Corbin didn't care anything about that, as he dragged Sin Cara out of the ring and hit him with the end of days on the floor.

With two victories over the current WWE United States champion, Sin Cara has to be getting a title shot soon, right? Otherwise, none of this would make any sense.

Fashion Dogs

Since I am fan of Reservoir Dogs, I enjoyed this segment. It wasn't Breezango's best outing, but it was still pretty good, especially for a big Quentin Tarantino fan like myself.

It looks like Breezango has gone from building a storyline with these segments to now blatant parodies of popular film and television franchises, as next week, it will be "Strangerer Things."

I understand that all of this started out as a parody of Law & Order, but there were still some storyline elements in it. Now, I honestly have no clue what is going on than a fun parody.
