Carli Lloyd, Alex Morgan to face off in UEFA Women's Champions League semifinals

The UEFA Women's Champions League is about to land on the radar of American soccer fans like never before.

The UEFA Women's Champions League is about to land on the radar of American soccer fans like never before.

Carli Lloyd's Manchester City will face Alex Morgan's Lyon in the semifinals at the end of April. It's a matchup featuring two of the biggest U.S. national team stars.

The first leg will be played on April 22 or 23. The second leg will be played on April 29 or 30. I've heard that Lyon will host second, but UEFA hasn't confirmed that yet, so it might just be a rumor.

Man City got there by beating Denmark's Fortuna Hjørring 2-0 on aggregate, 1-0 in each game. Lloyd scored the goal in the first leg win. Lyon beat Wolfsburg 2-1 on aggregate, winning 2-0 at home then surviving a 1-0 loss in Germany.

As of now, no U.S. broadcaster is scheduled to offer the semifinal on TV or online. Manchester City has put its games on Facebook, but Lyon has not done anything to allow American fans to watch. We'll see if that changes now.

Before the Champions League clash, Lloyd and Morgan will play together for the U.S. team in April's two games against Russia on April 6 and 9. return to Europe for some domestic league games ahead of the Champions League matchup.
