MLS Wrap: Kaká, Diskerud, Altidore score on opening weekend
Three of Major League Soccer's big off-season acquisitions opened their accounts on the first weekend of action.
Jozy Altidore struck twice in Toronto's 3-1 win at Vancouver on Saturday, and Mix Diskerud traded goals with Kaká in Orlando's 1-1 draw with New York City on Sunday. A capacity crowd of 62,510 fans was on hand at the Citrus Bowl to watch the first game in MLS for both of this year's expansion teams.
Here's a look back at all of the highlights from around the league on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Los Angeles Galaxy: Jose Villarreal 65', Robbie Keane 81'
D.C. United: Jairo Arrieta 58'
Houston Dynamo: Giles Barnes 66
FC Dallas: Blas Pérez 90 +2'
(I don't normally have much to say about scoreless draws, but Nick Rimando's spectacular saves are worth watching.)
Orlando City: Kaká 90 +1'
New York City FC: Mix Diskerud 76'
Sporting Kansas City: Ike Opara 50'
New York Red Bulls: Lloyd Sam 54'
Seattle Sounders: Clint Dempsey (PK) 25', Obafemi Martins 41', Clint Dempsey 67'
