Air Guitar Competition returns to Philadelphia

Everyone is guilty of ripping on an air guitar in their room in front of the mirror, just wishing that they were on stage being cheered on by screaming fans. Well get excited lonely shredders, because your dream is about to come true. The U.S. Air Guitar Championships are coming to Johnny Brenda’s this Saturday, and the competition is open to all air guitarists over the age of twenty one!

Well get excited lonely shredders, because your dream is about to come true.  The U.S. Air Guitar Championships are coming to Johnny Brenda's this Saturday, and the competition is open to all air guitarists over the age of twenty one!

R5 Productions and Johnny Brenda's are on the search for the top local air guitarist to represent the 2-1-5 in the National Air Guitar Championship. The winner will be flown to Chicago on July 23rd along with other winners from twenty other cities, where they will compete in the Air Guitar National Finals. The winner of the National finals will become the US Champion, who will be flown to Finland in August to compete in the Air Guitar World Championships!

Philadelphia will hold a competition that consists of two rounds.  In the first round, competitors choose whatever song they'd like to play to, and air guitarists with the highest scores will move onto round two.  In round two, they must perform to whatever song is chosen for them.  In both rounds, each competitor will play for sixty seconds.  The panel of judges is handpicked by US Air Guitar.  They will judge all competitors on Technical Merit, Stage Presence, and "Airness".  The only two rules are that all guitars must be invisible, and the jury cannot be protested.

This is a call to all of our city's best air guitarists. Get out there and represent us to the fullest, and if you're lacking talent in the air guitar department, come out and support your fellow shredding Philadelphians by purchasing $10 tickets from Johnny Brenda's.
