Attempt a Guinness Book of World Records-breaking fist bump at Penn Treaty Park

Winter is rapidly fading, and as folks make their way back outdoors, the Circuit Trails Coalition will celebrate "Opening Day for Trails" next month with a fist bump. A big one.

The organization on April 8 will observe "Opening Day for Trails" with a Guinness World Record-breaking fist bump relay. Currently, the record appears to stand at 300, a number set in August 2016 in Anchorage, Alaska.

In addition to celebrating "Opening Day for Trails," organizers also said via a release that the event will promote a Circuit Trails challenge in which participants are asked to log 500 miles on the trails between April and September, which works out to about 24 miles per week. A mile tracker app is forthcoming, but will be available online, according to a release. That competition will result in a giveaway of three Fuji bikes.

"There are currently 320 miles of completed Circuit Trails running through Gloucester, Camden, Burlington and Mercer counties in New Jersey and through Philadelphia, Montgomery, Bucks, Delaware and Chester counties in Pennsylvania," Circuit Trails Coalition New Jersey co-chair Olivia Glenn said via a release. The proposed 500-mile Circuit Trails are scheduled to be completed in 2025.

The Penn Treaty Park Trail, where the first bump record attempt will take place, is part of that circuit, and connects Pennsylvania to New Jersey with a trail over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge.
