Gay nightlife picks for New Year's Eve in Philly

The time has come once again to bid adieu to 2013. Surely, a year filled with twerkin' Mileys, Amanda Bynes meltdowns, and Beyonce secret albums calls for a big toast! Check out some of these local parties in the gayborhood and join us in singing "Auld Lange Syne" (don’t ask what it means) as the glittery ball drops.

iCandy (254 S. 12th St.)

iCandy is serving us a New Year's cocktail with a dash of mystery this year with a Masquerade Ball. There will be reduced admission at door if you wear a mask (complimentary masks will also be provided) and drink specials galore with $1 Jello shots, $3 Coors Light, $5 3 Olives, beads, party favors and much more. Try not to lose your sparkly slipper at the stroke of midnight; Prince Charming may be too drunk to find you.

Stir (1705 Chancellor St.)

Stir, in Rittenhouse Square, may be one of the only holiday parties this year that features no cover! As in zero, zilch, nada (saving money is very 2014). Additionally, there will be $2 beers and drink specials all night with a champagne toast at the stroke of 12. DJ Dan Wallace will provide the beats as we welcome in the New Year!

Tabu (200 S. 12th St.)

The biggest NYE party in the hood may be at Tabu, which is bringing the decadence with a ticketed night of dinner, drinks, and burlesque. The show will feature performances by Liberty City Kings Drag & Burlesque, and the Mxtress of Ceremonies, The Notorious OMG. Striking out with last minute dinner plans? Tabu has you covered with a four-course dinner that precedes the show. Click here for details.

Woody’s (202 S. 13th St.)

As you may already know, Philadelphia is probably one of the few cities that parties just as hard on New Year's Day as they do on the eve of.  Woody's is taking off some of that pressure by celebrating on New Year's Eve and then doing it all over again on January 1st.  This party will feature no less than four different DJ's in four different rooms! DJ Dozia on the mainfloor for College Night, DJ Josh in the pub, Chris Bretz in the suite, and Tripp in Rosewood.
