Get ‘crabbie’ with a week’s worth of alcoholic ginger beer

Crabbie's Alcoholic Ginger Beer is going all out for the launch of their newest Spiced Orange flavor by taking over Philly for a week for "It's Time For A Crabbie's Week." Various bars and restaurants in the area will offer special tastings of the new flavor as well as Crabbie's giveaways.

The week starts at 5 p.m. on Monday, May 5 for a special Crabbie's Cinco de Mayo. Sancho Pistola's in Fishtown will serve up Crabbie's cocktails including a special margarita. Get there before 8 p.m. if you want to enjoy a complimentary tasting of the new Spiced Orange beer. Also, if you're into free stuff, the first 20 people to order a featured cocktail will get a special Crabbie's beach towel.

Head to Rittenhouse Square's Fado on Wednesday, May 7 where the cocktails du jour include the "Mexican Mule," Jalapeno infused Jose Cuervo Tequila, Original Crabbie's and lemon juice and the "Caribbean Orange Crabbie's," Spiced Orange with Myers Dark Rum blended with fruit and cranberry juice. Both of these drinks will be sampled for free until 8 p.m., but you're encouraged to get there by 6 p.m. since first 20 to order a Crabbie's cocktail gets a free t-shirt.

By Thursday, May 8 the party's moved to Growlers in Bella Vista. At 6 p.m. chef Michael Thomas will suggest meals to pair with these new set of specialty drinks: "Dark and Crabbie," dark rum with Original and "The Rye of the Storm," Old Overholt rye whiskey, Angostura bitters, lime zest and Original. Bottle openers and sunglasses are the prizes for the early birds—again, the first 20 to order a Crabbie's drink get them.

Both Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, The Foodery on 10th Street, in Roxborough and in Northern Liberties will be serving up cold Original and Spiced Orange Crabbie's from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday and from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday. Another giveaway alert: bottle openers are up for grabs for the first 20 to order a Crabbie's beverage.
