Nominees for the 2nd annual Philly Geek Awards have been announced
This black tie awards ceremony honors and appreciates the thriving Philadelphia geek scene. Get your geek on at the Academy of Natural Sciences on August 17th.
The nominees for the 2nd annual Philly Geek Awards were announced today in preparation for its return on August 17th. This year's nominees are some of the most creative and inventive individuals and groups Philadelphia has to offer, and all of them will be appreciated and honored at the awards ceremony. With a number of categories in this year's field, the nominees all bring something unique and exciting to this momentous occasion.
Started last year by the Academy of Natural Sciences with Eric Smith and Tim Quirino of Geekadelphia, the ceremony was a sold out spectacular. This year it returns with more trophies, categories, and a number of special guests.
Guest presenters include local comedian and author Doogie Horner, Christopher Wink and Brian James Kirk of Technically Philly, celebrated photographer Kyle Cassidy, video game journalist Chris Grant, Leah Cevoli of Robot Chicken, and more.
Along with a 90-minute cocktail "hour", attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the museum before the show begins.
Nominees range from hackers and scientists to filmmakers and social media aficionados. Each category includes projects and endeavours that are worthy of this nomination.
