Organizations say 'thank you' to the military with Veterans Day deals

On Wednesday, Nov. 11 local establishments honor those who dedicated their life to protecting our country with numerous ceremonies, discounts, and specials.

If you're a veteran or active military personnel, check out these events:

The National Constitution Center (525 Arch St.) gets Veterans Day started with a ceremonial flag-raising at 9:15 a.m. Additionally, the day will include interviews, hands-on activities, and free entry to the museum for all active military and Veterans.

Throughout hours of operation (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), get up close and personal with sharks, turtles, penguins, and more sea life at Camden's Adventure Aquarium (1 Riverside Dr.). Admission is $10 and ID is required.

The Independence Seaport Museum (211 South Christopher Columbus Blvd.) honors military veterans with a ceremony aboard the Cruiser Olympia. Beginning at 2 p.m., the day will feature speeches, memorial services, and ship tours. If interested in attending, RSVP to seaport@phillyseaport.org or call 215-413-8616.

Get a glimpse of breathtaking art this Veterans Day at the National Liberty Museum (321 Chestnut Ave.). Opening at 10 a.m. galleries you must see include Live Like a Hero: a section honoring heroes among us; and Heroes of 9/11: an artistic look at unforgettable scenes that happening on that day.
