#PhillyFive Things to Do: Dec. 20, 2014
Wake up your friends and get going.
Wake up your friends and get going.
For chivalry: Young knights and ladies with an air of royalty will be treated to a day of nobility in the form of crown decorating, sword fighting, and family coat of arms designing at the Brandywine River Museum (Routes 1 and 100, Chadds Ford, Pa.). It all culminates with a knighting ceremony at the end of the program. The Knights and Ladies in Training activity runs in two sessions today: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.
For an unlikely pairing: It's been done before, combining Christmas and horror, but never quite like this. Chaplin's Café (66 N. Main St., Spring City, Pa.) will screen a series of short horror flicks from local filmmakers, starting at 7 p.m.
For a psychedelic experience: Papadelic — also known as Everett Bradley — brings his funky, groovy, holiday performance "Holidelic" to Underground Arts (1200 Callowhill St.) at 8 p.m. tonight. The Grammy nominated performer puts a unique, '70s-'80s spin on holiday faves.
For a peep show: Throw holiday traditions out the window. Here's a new one: Touring burlesque group Burlesque-a-Pades comes to World Café Live at the Queen (500 N. Market St., Wilmington, Del.) for a Christmas-themed revue starting at 8 p.m.
For laughs: After two performances on Thursday, John Mulaney — comic and star of "Mulaney" on Fox — returns to the Trocadero Theatre (1003 Arch St.) for two more shows at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.
