#PhillyFive Things to Do: March 25, 2015

Taking all the guesswork out of planning.

Taking all the guesswork out of planning.

For newbies: If you've never sunk your teeth into the migratory fish, shad, then today's your chance to get your hands on a free smoked shad sandwich, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Oyster House (1516 Sansom St.). Get there quickly, only 100 shad virgins will get the deal.

For a drink: Raising funds for the Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society is Trestle Inn's (11th and Callowhill Streets) Bourbon Battle from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Four local bartenders will put the moves on a bourbon cocktail and attendees will vote on their fave.

For a perennial party: Floral & Hardy of Skippack (4007 Skippack Pike, Skippack) is throwing a wine, cheese and flower gathering for attendees to check out new perennials and have a gardening discussion from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

For a web editing session: Learn how to properly (and correctly) edit Wikipedia pages to help improve the online representation of African American artists with this class at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (2600 Benjamin Franklin Parkway). From 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., you'll learn some basic editing tips and from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., you'll hit the web to spruce up some pages.

For a twist: Casting actress Zainab Jah as the titular character in Shakespeare's "Hamlet," the Wilma Theater's production of the classic play gets a modern transformation. Opening night is tonight at 7:30 p.m.
