On site registration, held at the Forbidden Trail in Wissahickon Valley Park (Wissahickon Dr. and Northwestern Ave.), begins at 7 a.m. and the race starts at 9 a.m.
For a festive market: LOVE Park's (15th St. and JFK Blvd.) Christmas Village, the open-air German Christmas Market, featuring vendors, music, food, Santa sightings and more, opens for previews today. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For the ultimate light display: A Longwood Christmas officially opens today, transforming Longwood Gardens (1001 Longwood Rd., Kennett Square, Pa.) into a winter wonderland with illuminated displays (both indoor and out), light shows and more. The gardens are open from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. today.
For a spectacular: Starting today, the Comcast Holiday Spectacular brings a virtual holiday show to the giant LED screens in the Comcast Center (1701 JFK Blvd.) at the top of the hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For an alternative celebration: Dine Thanksgiving-style aboard the Spirit of Philadelphia (401 S. Columbus Blvd.) for a lunch cruise, boarding at 2:30 p.m. Dig into meal classics (turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing) and sample some additions, too (baked tilapia, smoked gouda mac and cheese). The cruise runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
