Tailgating options for Temple vs. Penn State game

Football season is back, and what better way to kick things off for a Pennsylvania rivalry game?

Football season is back, and what better way to kick things off for a Pennsylvania rivalry game?

On Saturday, Sept. 5, the Temple University Owls will host the Penn State Nittany Lions at Lincoln Financial Field (1 Lincoln Financial Way). Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.

Whether you're going to the game or just heading to the pre-festivities, tailgate parties will be held throughout the parking lots at Lincoln Financial Field.

Here's where to find a sea of cherry- or blue-colored tailgates.

All are welcome

Whether you support Penn State or Temple, Phan Cave is a perfect destination for your tailgating needs. From 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., get pumped up for the game with live music, unlimited beverages, outdoor games, and grilling. Proceeds from this event go towards THON. The party typically takes place in Lot H of Lincoln Financial Field, but they will post via social media if there are changes. Purchase tickets here.

If the parking lot is too much for you, Xfinity Live! (1100 Pattison Ave.) will host a tailgate party starting at 11 a.m. The entertainment complex will have live music on their new outdoor stage, plenty of beverage options, and tailgating games including cornhole and beer pong. Doors open at 11 a.m.

The folks behind Philly Tailgate will host a four-hour party prior to the game at McFadden's Outdoor Patio (1 Citizens Bank Way). Access to the pre-party gets you unlimited food, drinks, access to games, and post game specials if you're willing to stick around after the game. Ticket options are here

For Owls

A group of Temple alumni organized all their tailgates together to throw quite possibly one of the biggest parties happening before kickoff. Located in Lot K (Pattison Avenue and Darien Street), this event will include tons of beverages, grilled meats, live music, and more. Best part — it's free! Contribution is much appreciated, though. Things start at 9:30 a.m.

Perfect for those with kids, Temple Alumni will host a pre-party featuring an all-you-can-eat buffet and unlimited non-alcoholic drinks. For adults in attendance, two drink tickets for alcohol will be provided. Things get started at noon at Lot K. Purchase tickets here.

For Nittany Lions

The Brandywine Alumni Society and the Tilted Kilt will host a party at the Jetro Parking Lot (700 Pattison Ave.). Things get started at 11 a.m. until game time and tickets get you unlimited food and drinks. If you plan on not driving to the game, a round-trip bus to and from the Linc will be available at Tilted Kilt in King of Prussia (856 W. DeKalb Pike).

An alternative to tailgating: Get rowdy with Penn State fans during a pep rally in Lot P (Pattison Avenue and 7th Street). The gathering begins at 12:30 p.m., and will get things officially started at 1:30 p.m. Expect chants, games, and more.
