Philly Biking events not to be missed
September marks the end of summer, the start to a new school year, and a very noticeable crisp cool weather change. It’s also a month that hosts two of Philly’s biggest biking events: PNBR and Bike Philly.

Philly Naked Bike Ride - September 4th (Location & Time TBA) – The now famed Philly Naked Bike Ride only made it's first appearance in Philadelphia two years ago, but since then, the organization has grown quite vastly. And when we say naked, we mean it. Anything goes on this over one hour long trek through the city's streets. Participants have sported everything from their birthday suit, to body paint, and even a ridiculous yet revealing costume or two. But just because it's in the title, doesn't mean you absolutely MUST be in the nude. This bike ride is meant to encourage people to have a fun and healthy time!
PNBR's first meeting, in 2009, lined itself along the Schuylkill River. The second one formed a gathering a top Lemon Hill near Kelly Drive. This year's meet-up location is still a well kept secret, which goes along with the tradition and rules of the NBR organization. To find out up to date details on where, when, and what, you must be a part of PNBR's Facebook group.
Bike Philly 2011 - September 11th (Benjamin Franklin Parkway, 6:30 am – 1 pm, more route info here)– For those seeking a much more family-friendly environment OR if you just don't feel the need to strip down to your bare nothings, then the Bicycle Coalition has got you covered (literally). Bike Philly is the city's largest annual bicycle ride that gives you the option of a 10-20 mile car free ride OR a 35-mile ride on a more challenging, shared road coarse. In the days leading up to this early morning trek, there are a few other wonderful biking events to take part in! Bike Mural Arts Tours, Safe Routes Family Fest, and many more.
