TrickGo's final show: Scott Albrecht's 'Along The Way'
TrickGo’s final show will feature the work of New York-based artist Scott Albrecht. In 'Along The Way', Albrecht focused on capturing specific moments from his life, especially memories of events in which he found inspiration & discovery.
At a certain point, something must come to an end and unfortunately that thing we're talking about is the TrickGo Gallery & Boutique. The store has been inhabiting their Pine St. space for the past 2 years now and have showcased many talented young artists in the philadelphia area. This includes Bradford Haubrich, NOM NOW, Hilary White, Anni Altshuler, Steven Streisguth, Andrienne Langer, and James T. Arnold. They've also hosted multiple group art shows giving even younger artists a chanace to have their work shine.
TrickGo's final show (at least within that space) will feature the work of New York-based artist Scott Albrecht. In ALONG THE WAY, Albrecht focused on capturing specific moments from his life, especially memories of events in which he found inspiration and discovery. These moments are represented thematically throughout the exhibition and specifically documented in a series of four works called Moments in Time. Expanding upon his signature typographic aesthetic, Albrecht explores abstract interpretations of typography in his Moments in Time series.
In each of the four works, the artist integrates a set of eight numbers which represent a significant date (mm/dd/yyyy), dissects the numerical letterforms into a system of painted wooden geometric shapes, and embeds hidden codes into the resulting puzzle-like pattern.
For Albrecht, exhibiting in Philadelphia, the city where he went to art school, brings the idea behind this exhibition full circle. The city served as a starting point to many facets of his creative work, education and inspiration — ALONG THE WAY is a culmination of many ideas influenced by Albrecht's time living in Philly and the years that followed.
If you live in Philadelphia, you may have caught Scott's work at many of Phrequency's own showcases including last year's 'Made In America' art show, most recently 'Time, Sapce, and the Final Frontier' at AITA, and he even designed a sticker for our 'Phrequency Turns 2' birthday bash.
We aren't lying when we say Scott is one of our favorite artists and we'r e thrilled to see his work as a solo exhibition.
