The first round of shows include RJD2 (on 10/14), Wild Flag (on 10/19), Gillian Welch (on 10/20), CSS (on 10/21), Dum Dum Girls (on 10/23), Friendly Fires (on 10/25), Boris (on 10/28), and We Were Promised Jetpacks (on 10/29).
The venue is a partnership between Bowery Presents, Sean Agnew, Avram Hornik, and Mark Fichera.
From the press release:
"The partners, along with Philly-based architecture firm Fishtank PHL, are all hands-on in the extensive renovations of the venue to create a memorable concert experience that is appealing to both the audience and artists. Renovations will touch every area of Union Transfer including the installation of a state of the art sound system by D&B Audiotechnik and concert-quality lighting. To allow for great sightlines from every angle, renovations are being done to remove the building's original columns and include a mezzanine level with tiered seating and a large balcony. A raised platform will offer optimal viewing from the floor for the over 21 crowd.
Separate entrances are being created for the under 21 set in the grand lobby, with simple concessions and non-alcoholic beverages offered at the lower bar for all ages. They will be ushered onto the venue floor for the show.
Multiple dressing rooms are being created, as well as offices for operations. The venue will feature ample parking spaces and parking for 150 bicycles."
Neat!
