The Art of Surfing

Surfboard coffee tables and key chains, hand-tooled jewelry and hand-sewn denim skirts, and loads and loads of photos, paintings and drawings of waves and people in them compose the 18th locals-mostly art show, where Kathy Kohner Zuckerman, the real-life inspiration for Gidget, will sign books and yoga will be practiced. Coinciding with the display: Ocean City's 56th Boardwalk Art Show, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Noon-10 p.m. Friday & Saturday, Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace & Boardwalk, Ocean City, free, 609-399-6111, artofsurfingfestival.com, oceancityvacation.com

Cape May Baby Parade

The nation's oldest seaside resort hosts a comparatively youthful (at 86 years young) baby parade. Prizes given at Convention Hall include "Pretty Baby" and "Children Walking in Comic Dress."

11 a.m. Friday, Beach Avenue from Congress Street to Howard Street, Cape May, free to enter and view, 609-884-9565, capemay.com

Yanni

Greece's best-known god on earth broke records 25 years ago when he recorded a concert at the Acropolis. Yanni's visit to A.C. promises a return to that excitement, sans ancient Athenian ruins.

8 p.m. Friday, Borgata, 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City, $79-$99, 866-900-4849, theborgata.com

Stone Harbor Arts & Crafts Festival

Kids paint clay while grown-ups seek the perfect treasure to fill their trove at this open-air exhibit and sale of works by 200 American makers. Shuttle service available throughout island.

9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, 8100 Second Ave., Stone Harbor, free, 609-368-5102, shacfest.com

Craft Beer & Crab Festival

The historic Emlen Physick Estate hosts this major summer festival, featuring beer and crustaceans, but also pulled pork, empanadas, hot dogs, crafts, music by the Calamity Janes, and a Victorian circus.

10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, 1048 Washington St., Cape May, free to attend, 609-884-5404, capemaymac.org

N.J. State Crab Festival

Wildwood's Ice House does up a block party starring blue claws, beer garden, Jimmy Buffett cover band, and a kids — what else? — crab race.

11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday, 4415 Park Blvd., Wildwood, pay as you go, 609-522-0033, icehouserestaurantwildwoodnj.com

Rod Stewart & Cyndi Lauper

One could surmise there's a retro reunion in A.C. this weekend, but the confluence of well-haired hitmakers (including Tom Bailey of the Thompson Twins, tonight at the Borgata) is purely coincidental. Lauper opens for Stewart, two pop-star balladeers who, to some, remain forever young.

7:30 p.m. Saturday, Boardwalk Hall, 2301 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, $99-$175, 800-653-8000, ticketmaster.com

Boy George and Culture Club

By all accounts, the adult who still goes by "Boy" has aged fabulously, still able to hit the highs on "I'll Tumble 4 Ya" and "Church of the Poison Mind," and still rockin' epic eye makeup.

8 p.m. Saturday, Tropicana, 2381 Boardwalk, Atlantic City, $60-$115, 800-653-8000, ticketmaster.com

National Lighthouse Day

Tuesday's the day to climb the seaside towers of Cape May Point, Absecon and/or Barnegat. Atlantic City's lighthouse is waiving the admission fee for kids 11 and under, and they're all doing stuff for kids.

Cape May: 9 a.m.-2 p.m., 215 Light House Ave., Cape May Point, $8 adults, $5 ages 3-12, 609-884-5404, capemaymac.org; Absecon: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. 31 S. Rhode Island Ave., Atlantic City, $8 adults, $7 seniors & students, 609-449-1360, abseconlighthouse.org; Barnegat Light House State Park: 10 a.m.-4 p.m., $3 adults, $1 ages 6-11, state.nj.us

Ocean City Baby Parade

Babies have been parading for prizes above O.C. sands for 109 years. Kids under 10 can take part in the traditional competition, provided parents (and/or other enthusiastic adults) are willing to dress, decorate, and push or pull them a half dozen blocks along the hot boards. Deadline to enter: Tuesday; price: $5.

10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sixth to 12th Street on the Boardwalk, Ocean City, free, 609-399-6111, ocnj.us
