Kids To Do: Could the Harlem Globetrotters beat the 76ers? (We say yes)
Wild Kratts Live!
Merriam Theater, 250 S. Broad St.
7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, $29 to $45.
Yes, they are two wild guys. But in their entertaining and educational show Wild Kratts, bothers Martin and Chris Kratt are more crafty than crazy as they seek to help the other critters we share the planet with.
In the animated series, the North Jersey bros don creature suits that mimic the characteristic of an animal that is misunderstood (even, gaah!, bats), or in danger. The threat can be from human encroachment, or, most likely, from some blowhard, self-centered villain too dense to learn about nature and mindlessly threatening all other living things. With some slapstick and sibling hijinks, everything ends well and everyone learns a lesson.
Jane and the Humongous Pear
Eagle Theatre, 208 Vine St., Hammonton, N.J.
9:30 a.m. Friday, 11 and 3 p.m. Saturday, $15; $12 ages under 12.
No chance of your little one fidgeting during Ed Corsi and Ted Wioncek III's magical adventure tale Jane and the Humongous Pear. The show is about a young girl's journey of self-discovery (via the fantastic fruit of the title). Why? Because they'll have a job to do.
In this theatrical experience, everyday objects are transformed into props and used for sound effects. The audience helps decide what is used, what costumes will be worn, and what direction the story will take. After the show, the cast will have a meet-and-greet to discuss what happened.

Among our most fervent beliefs (Mallo Cup is the best candy, the Hulk would beat Superman, the Monkees belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame) is this: The Harlem Globetrotters can beat NBA teams (well, OK, maybe just the 76ers). Steph Curry is great, but let's see him score a basket off his backside, or try to keep the bucket of water separate from one with the confetti.
The clown princes of basketball bring their, wow, 90th anniversary tour to our town for three games. A new patsy, er, opponent, the World All-Stars, replaces the lovable loser Washington Generals (they took 16,000 defeats with a grin). Trotters legend (and former Sixers draft pick) Sweet Lou Dunbar is the coach, and new stars include Ant Atkinson, Handles Franklin, and Temple's own TNT Maddox.
