Trump has a bump, but what fate in debate?
The field sometime seems Like a Seussical zoo. There’s a Jeb and a Jindal And a Huckabee, too.
There's a Seuss in the news
And it's Seuss we would choose
To comment on creatures
In reds or in blues.
Those two fish we all know
And the Cat in the Hat
And the Zax and the Zooks
The Glutz and the Gack.
But what pet shall we choose
As the good doctor asks
In a book that's brand new.
It's such a big task.
There are so many choices
Spread out on the scene
There are so many voices
In 2015.
The field sometime seems
Like a Seussical zoo.
There's a Jeb and a Jindal
And a Huckabee, too.
A Rand, a Pataki,
Two Ricks and a Walker
Fiorinas and Rubios
All of them talkers.
Lindseys and Johns
Vie with Carsons and Cruzes
Yet none has the oomph
To show us what news is.
They are Who-bubs and Zummers,
Thing One and Thing Two,
Gerald McBoing Boing
And Foo-Foo the Snoo.
It's been hard to tell Nizzard
From Flummox from Foon.
Until a loud noise
Barged into the room.
With a gust of pure bombast
And gales of vainglory
A creature unparalleled
Changed the whole story.
He plowed center stage
With a glorious glump
And said, "Hey everyone.
Make way for the Trump!"
Now this Trump was a creature
Like no peer had known.
His words like his hair
Had a mind of their own.
He held his own spotlight.
He held his own mike.
The words I, Me, Mine
Were the ones that he liked.
He used them and used them.
He talked long and blue.
And if someone protested
He said, "What's it to you!"
He sucked all the air
From the room on that day.
He commanded attention
Every media way.
The gurus have groaned,
"He's an unfettered Id!"
But the polls said another thing.
Here's what they did:
They said Trump had a bump.
What a bump had the Trump.
His message was magic
Out there on the stump.
The Jebs and the Chrises,
The Rands and the Walkers
Have been muffled and baffled
By the very loud talker.
He now holds center stage
On that point, no debate.
He's made his own moment
He's made his own fate.
It's a Seuss show unmatched.
It's both daft and beguiling.
The Trump has a bump.
Is that Hillary smiling?
