Dover PD help local girl with cancer meet Taylor Swift

A 13-year-old girl named Victoria Marsh had her dreams come true backstage at Taylor Swift's Philadelphia concert with the help of some unlikely fellows: the Dover, Delaware Police Department.

Victoria has Down Syndrome and, in December 2014, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer that often occurs in children and young adults, with teens being the most commonly affected group. Despite her health issues, Victoria still loves doing things most teenage girls enjoy like swimming, singing, dancing and, of course, Taylor Swift. Naturally, she wanted to go to a Taylor Swift concert but, because of her chemotherapy, doctors could not clear Victoria to attend. She had to give concert tickets given to her by the Dover PD to her sisters.

That's when Victoria, with the help of the Dover PD, decided to create a video telling her story in hopes that Taylor would see it.

"The police helped me make this video," the video reads, "In hopes that Taylor will see it. And come visit or Facetime with me when she's in Philadelphia."

Using the hashtags #TeamVictoria and #SwiftAWish, the Dover PD asked viewers to share the video and campaign for Victoria so that she could get her wish. What she actually got was even better. The video got more than 45 thousand views on Youtube and was shared more than 56 thousand times on Facebook. On the night of Taylor's Philly concert, Victoria was cleared for eight-hours to leave her hospital room and meet her favorite performer backstage at her concert. The Dover PD shared pictures of the meeting.

Videos became an especially popular medium for the Dover PD after their "Dover Police DashCam Confessional" video went viral, garnering over 35 million YouTube views.
