Philly's own Caity Weaver is the latest Gawker staffer to exit the company on the heels of departures from several other employees, including Max Read and Tommy Craggs. You may remember her from her 14-hour TGIFridays stunt, or that time she took a racist Paula Deen cruise.
"Yes, I'm accepting the buyout and also GO EAGLES!" Weaver wrote to Poynter when asked to confirm her exit in what may be the most Philly resignation ever.
Prior to that, Weaver announced her decision to take the buyout via Twitter:
And she later relived one of her more glorious experiences at Gawker in which a company rep asked Weaver if she had misidentified her own race:
Weaver's buyout is part of an editorial reorientation plan headed up by Gawker Media CEO Nick Denton that is designed to make the blog "less edgy" following its recent post targeting a Condé Nast executive.
So, with that, it appears we truly have reached the end of an era. Caity, we hardly know ye.
And, yes, Go, Eagles.
