Jon Stewart slams Chris Christie’s apparent Bridgegate ‘vindication’ on ‘Daily Show’

Some may say that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been vindicated in the so-called Bridgegate scandal with last week’s indictments of several former staffers. After all, Christie himself was not named.

Some may say that New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been vindicated in the so-called Bridgegate scandal with last week's indictments of several former staffers. After all, Christie himself was not named.

Jon Stewart, however, doesn't buy it.

"So Chris Christie escapes indictment, but still, three of his top aides are going down," Stewart said on Wednesday's Daily Show. "That's got to be humbling."

Stewart similarly took on the Christie administration's culture of "intimidation and bullying," which he says is the root of the problem that lead to last week's indictment of Christie staffers Bridget Anne Kelly and Bill Baroni.

A former Christie ally, David Wildstein (not Kirstie Alley), also pleaded guilty to federal charges last week.

"You know, it's what I've been saying all along," Stewart said, mocking Christie in an exaggerated Jersey accent. "I didn't do anything. I didn't shut down the bridge as retribution. It was my senior staff who I hand picked and tacitly encouraged through a culture I created of intimidation and bullying. Christie 2016!"
