Just weeks before the Electronic Entertainment Conference in Los Angeles, Microsoft's Xbox folks unveiled some information about their forthcoming successor to the Xbox 360 at a press event on their Washington campus.

Though most of the revelations were regarding the Xbox One, the biggest morsel of news was the announcement that Steven Spielberg will be the executive producer of a live-action Halo TV series.

343 Industries head Bonnie Ross announced that Steven Spielberg will be the executive producer of an original "Halo" live-action television series. "For me, the 'Halo' universe is an amazing opportunity for the intersection" of "mythmaking and technology," Spielberg said via a video. It looks to be called "World of Halo" and will be exclusive to the Xbox ecosystem. [L.A. Times]

A Halo live-action mini-series preceded the release of Halo 4. Halo: Forward Unto Dawn helped build on the success of the franchise and garnered 26 million views over five parts back in 2012.
