Taylor Swift threatens legal action against Reading musician over domain name

Taylor Swift apparently doesn't like to share.

She recently decided to seek out trademarks for several phrases from her "1989" album. Then, she threatened legal action against Etsy sellers for using her lyrics on their homemade items. Now the pop star is threatening more legal action against a Reading musician/computer tech.

Ronnie Cremer bought the domain itaughttaylorswift.com from GoDaddy sometime within the last month, according to the New York Daily News.

Cremer said he spent two years working with Swift, her parents seeking his assistance. It was only after he had been teaching music that he started any technical work on the Swifts computers.

From the Daily News:

"For years, Swift has told a story that, with some variations, went like this (from a 2009 promotional DVD):

"When I was about 12 this magical twist of fate (happened). I was doing my homework [when the tech fixing my computer] looked over and saw the guitar in the corner. And he said, 'Do you play guitar?' I said, 'Oh. No. I tried, but ....' He said 'Do you want me to teach you a few chords?' and I said, 'Uh, yeah. YES!'""

Last week, Cremer got an email from Swift's team ordering him to shut the site down. TAS Rights Management LLC stated that the domain he bought, per the Daily News, "incorporates the famous Taylor Swift trademark in its entirety and suggests TAS's sponsorship or endorsement of your website. The Domain Name and your use of the Domain Name are also highly likely to dilute, and to tarnish, the famous Taylor Swift trademark."

While Cremer tells the newspaper he doesn't want to profit from the site, he's hoping it can be a place for the untold Taylor Swift stories, whatever they may be.

The email noted Cremer has three days to get rid of the domain, but he has no plans throw any white flags.

"It's going to be an informational website that basically lets people know what really happened," per the Daily News.
