The world has been waiting nearly a decade for Will Ferrell to retake his rightful seat behind the Channel 4 news desk and bring Ron Burgundy back to the big screen. But, as fans mark their calendars up to Anchorman 2's December 18th release, director Adam McKay has officially announced that there's more sequel to be had.

McKay spoke with IGN's Lucy O'Brien about the additional footage that didn't make it into the version of the film slated for theatrical release. McKay says that, with all of the improvisation and unused jokes, they've got enough material for an entirely different iteration of Anchorman 2.

He says they're editing it now and that, while the actual plot points will remain the same, the alternate version will replace every joke cracked in the original instance of the sequel.
