Watch: ‘Broad City’ is sick of celebrating Columbus Day

As some people enjoy the holiday off, the Broad City gals are celebrating Columbus Day in their own special way: taking on the legend of Christopher Columbus, courtesy of their Web series, Hack Into Broad City.

"Christopher Columbus is the original white-douche a--hole," co-star Ilana Glazer says in the clip. "He raped and pillaged his way through America. I'm not going to give his ghost the satisfaction of giving me a day off."

To really stick it to the man, Glazer decides to go about a normal work day, checking email, "turn lights on and off," and printing photos of celebrities for her best friend and co-star, Abbi Jacobson. Because, as it happens, Jacobson needs "hot pics of celebs" since computer and television screens hurt her eyes.

With that, it appears that Abbi learns that Columbus Day isn't, as she says, the "national day of not doing s---." Instead, it's a day for draining your workplace's ink and toner cartridges.

From there, the pair come up with some, um, interesting ways to get back at Columbus, including feeding him his own heart, and scalping him, only to throw that scalp down a hill to "watch it go."

In the end, though, the Broad City gals do decide to hold a little celebration of their own. But not for the Columbus you might be thinking.

"Let's drink to, like, something really significant," Abbi says at one point. "Like the real Christopher Columbus, who directed Home Alone."

Awesomely, that part is true. A Pennsylvania native, Columbus also directed features like Mrs. Doubtfire, and the first two Harry Potter movies, and wrote classics like Gremlins and The Goonies.

Which, of course, means one thing: This year, let's make sure we're celebrating the right Columbus.
