Xbox 360 vs Playstation 3

The Battle Between Systems has raged on for years, since the first PlayStation, and the first Xbox. The rivalry has grown fierce, and when it comes down to which is better, only a few are truly aware of the answer.

The argument over which system is better, Xbox 360 or Ps3, has been raging on since the Ps3 was released in 2006 challenging the 360s supremacy.  Every gamer will defend the system that he owns, but the gamers that own both, they know the truth.  Despite statistics of which has better RAM, better CPU, GPU, hardrive, and other properties (most of which go to Ps3) it does still boil down to opinion.   In this article, I am going to compare aspects that hopefully help gamers that don't know all the tech talk about the systems decides which is better.  Here I will talk about graphics, online play, system properties, games, and of course after all of this, I will give you my opinion.

Graphics

Graphics have come a long way since the days of N64 and the first Playstation.  I have had parents walk in while I am playing madden and never have them realize I am actually playing a video game.  Graphics today are simply amazing, and only getting better, both of these systems have a great graphics system.  Overall in this system debate, the edge goes to the Xbox 360.  I have seen games on Ps3 that appear to have better graphics, but playing games side by side clearly shows that the Xbox has the edge in graphics.

Online Play

This aspect of the two systems is the one that generates the most drama.  Nobody can come to a common consensus about the two differing online capabilities.  Both can be played as either wired or wireless connection.  Xbox live is a paid subscription, while Ps3's online play is free for everyone to enjoy.  While most people, mainly devout Xbox players insist that the Playstation's online play is full of lag, and never has a good host to connect to, this is not true.  It works mainly the same way as the Xbox live does, what it really depends on is whether you have good internet or not.  If you don't have good internet connection, you are not going to get a good connection, and therefore experience live.  Not having to pay for what is the same experience is an awesome aspect.

System Properties

These gaming systems have very similar aspects in properties.  They both have motion ability, Xbox Kinect and the Playstation motion.  In this aspect Ps3 has gone a bit further adding a gun that you can attach the controller to.  In terms of controllers, both have wireless controllers capabilities, and have 4 controllers hooked up to the system at one time.  Of course seeing as these controllers are wireless, they need to be charged, or have the batteries replaced.  Playstation's controllers have the edge here holding a charge much longer than the Xbox controllers do.  It also takes Playstation controllers have to the time to charge.  Still in using the controllers, Playstation's controllers are much more awkward to play with.  Xbox controllers seem to fit the hands much better, and put your hands in a much more comfortable position to play.  Both systems have the ability to play DVDs, however once again in this aspect Playstation gets the edge.  Playstation has a built in Blu Ray player.  Blu Ray of course has a much clearer picture and looks much better than normal DVDs.  Having this is a huge aspect that gives Playstation a huge edge.  If you are not happy with the regular audio video output, both Xbox, and Playstation come with HDMI output availability.

Games

Both of these systems have many games in which you can play on the system.  They both share many franchises including the Madden, Call of Duty, and the Assassins creed games.  However both systems have exclusive games which can only be played on that particular system.  Each system has its own set of exclusive games that have made a name for itself and are among the best games.  Which system puts out the best games however come down to opinion, which genre of can game you like, and what you like to play.  Xbox is responsible for famous titles such as Halo, and Gears of War.  However Playstation has Killzone, Infamous, Uncharted, God of War, and while it was just re-released for all systems, Metal gear solid was always exclusive to Playstation.  And although the older versions have just been re-released for all systems, Metal Gear Solid: Guns of the Patriots, and the upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Rising, and upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5 are Playstation exclusive.

Both Systems are great, and I have a great time playing both of them.  I am torn between which I like better.  I have had Xbox all of my life, and only recently gotten my hands on a Playstation 3.  What really tears me is the fact that all of my friends have Xbox, and therefore I spend a lot of my time buying, and playing Xbox in order to play with them.  Everyone I have ever asked who has both systems has told me the same thing, once they get a Ps3 they rarely ever play there Xbox.  I still play my Xbox regularly, but in terms of which system is overall better in terms of quality, I would have to give the edge to the Playstation 3.
