Flood watch
April nor'easter could bring heaviest rains in seven months, with snow nearby.
It is now all but certain that drought talk will be scare next week.
The National Weather Service has posted a flood watch for Philadelphia and the Pennsylvania neighboring counties, along with much of central and north Jersey.
Nature gave us a bonus day today, and while showers are expected tonight, it appears thtat the important rainfall won't get under way until midmorning tomorrow as a coastal storm affects the region.
This one will be potent, with high winds, and before it's all over early in the week, it's possible that parts of the Poconos could end up with 2 to 3 inches of snow.
For the rest of the region, 2 to 3 inches of rain appears to be a good bet, and that could be enough to lure some of the smaller streams out of their banks.
No major river flooding is anticipated; as we've noted, the Delaware River flow at Trenton was running at about a fifth of normal.
It's been quite awhile since we've seen so much green on the forecast map. If the forecast works out, this would be heftiest rains since the region was affected by the remnants of Tropical Storm Lee, back in September when school was starting.
