Gulf oil heading north?
Computer simulation: Oil may soil Atlantic
That Gulf oil could end up spreading over thousands of miles of the North Atlantic, according to a computer analysis released today.
That would happen if the spewed oil became entrained the Gulf "loop current" and ejected through the Florida straits and into the Gulf Stream.
In releasing the computer simulation, the University Corporation for Atmospheric research cautioned that it was not a forecast, nor were the findings peer reviewed.
In any event, the simulation suggests that Jersey beaches would be spared.
