Snow: What's next?

You might not want to know ...

The next few days should be excellent for melting as the late-winter sun goes to town, but another winter storm looms for midweek.

It's only Friday, and the threat is at least four days away, but the chilly pattern is persistent and the trend of the computer models is troublesome, said Gary Szatkowski, the meteorologist in charge of the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

In earlier runs the models wanted to take the storm well south of here, but now they are trending northward, he said. At Accu-Weather Inc., meteorologist Tom Kines has seen a similar development.

One other trend is indisputable, however. February ends Sunday.
