Airline consolidation (part ...): Opposition in Congress

Several key members of Congress, some expected and some not, have made it clear they are either opposed to the proposed United-Continental airline merger, or they have questions they want answered. Rep. James Oberstar, chairman of the House Transportation Commitee, as expected, is opposed. Members of the Judiciary Committee have sent the airlines a letter asking for many details on the potential effect on consumers of creation of the world's largest airline.
