Recent announcements about changes to the boards of directors of area organizations or involving local executives.

Chris Bull, chief executive officer of Taurus Display, Moorestown, was named vice chairman of Point-of-Purchase Advertising International, a Washington-based trade group for the $19 billion in-store advertising industry.

Philadelphia Safe and Sound, a nonprofit organization focused on children, named Jan Shaeffer and Leonard Caldwell to its board. Shaeffer is executive director of St. Christopher's Foundation for Children, Philadelphia. Caldwell is a consultant in the commercial banking industry.

Hope A. Comisky, a partner with Pepper Hamilton L.L.P., Philadelphia, was elected to the board of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, Mechanicsburg, the continuing-legal-education arm of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

Amelia Carolla was elected chair of the board of trustees of Southern New Jersey Regional Early Intervention Collaborative, a Berlin nonprofit human-services group that advocates for children with special needs. She is an associate at Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads L.L.P., Cherry Hill.

Danielle Banks, a partner in the litigation practice group at Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young L.L.P., Philadelphia, was elected to the board of the Public Interest Law Center of Philadelphia.

Cornerstone Bank, a Moorestown state-chartered commercial bank, named Richard P. Meehan to its board. He is a partner with Meehan & Associates Certified Public Accountants & Consultants, Moorestown.

Wireless Philadelphia named former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Fred Barnett to its board. He handles public relations and fund-raising for the Institute for the Development of African-American Youth, Philadelphia.

The Chester County Economic Development Council, an Exton nonprofit economic-development organization, announced its officers for 2007-09:

Conrad M. Olie is chairman. He is director, human resources and administration, Communications Test Design Inc., West Chester.

Edwin A. Brownley Jr. is first vice chairman. He is president of PAC Strapping Products Inc., Exton.

Jerome S. Parker is second vice chairman. He is president of Delaware County Community College, Media.

Roger N. Huggins is secretary. He is an attorney at Gawthrop Greenwood, West Chester.

Valerie Mead is treasurer. She is vice president, finance, at SunGard Higher Education Inc., Malvern.

Leonard A. Bernstein, a partner at the law firm of Reed Smith L.L.P., Philadelphia, was elected board president of the Support Center for Child Advocates, Philadelphia, a lawyer-volunteer program for abused and neglected children. The following were elected to the board: Jeffrey Alan Barrack, partner at Barrack, Rodos & Bacine, Philadelphia; Jill Felix Colton, president of Jill Felix Advisors L.L.C.; and Mark W. Tanner, partner at Feldman Shepherd Wohlgelernter Tanner & Weinstock, Philadelphia.

The Jewish Publication Society, Philadelphia, appointed Andrew Sternthal and David Gilberg to its board. Sternthal was the lead business-development executive at CDnow Inc. from 1995 to 2000. Gilberg is a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell L.L.P., New York.

Robert Groody was elected to a two-year term as chairman of the YMCA of Burlington County. He is executive vice president and chief financial officer of GMAC Wholesale Mortgage Corp., Horsham.

Dance Affiliates, a nonprofit cultural organization, named three new board members: John Hyman, president of North American Machinery Sales Inc., Philadelphia; Arthur M. Kaplan, an attorney at Fine, Kaplan & Black, Philadelphia; and Tracy Reyle, an associate at Cozen O'Connor, Philadelphia.
