Mothers Work CEO steps down

Dan Matthias, cofounder and chief executive of Mothers Work Inc., Philadelphia, retired Sept. 30. He was succeeded by Edward Krell, the current chief operating officer, who also was appointed to the board of directors.

Matthias will continue as a director and non-executive chairman. His wife,

, the current president and chief creative officer, will continue in her current capacity and will report to Krell.

Kelly Beaudin Stapleton

has been named senior managing director in the corporate restructuring and advisory group at Traxi L.L.C., a New York-based financial advisory firm that plans to open a Philadelphia-Wilmington regional office in the fall, led by Beaudin Stapleton. Previously, she served as a United States trustee in Region 3 covering Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Comcast-Spectacor, Philadelphia, named

David Freed

director of digital advertising and sponsorship. Before joining Comcast-Spectacor in the spring of 2007, he was recruited to develop interactive advertising sales at Comcast Spotlight.

Calvin B. Johnson

has been appointed vice president and chief medical officer for Temple University Health System. Johnson has been secretary of health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Osborne Abbey Jr.

has been named chief executive officer of Valley Forge Educational Services, formerly Valley Forge Specialized Educational Services Corp., of Paoli. Abbey had been senior vice president and chief education officer for Nobel Learning Communities Inc., West Chester.

Global Spectrum, operator of the Wachovia Complex, promoted

Dustin Godsey

to director of marketing at the Wachovia Center and the Wachovia Spectrum. He had been marketing manager at the two facilities since 2006.

The Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry named

Nancy Keefer

president and chief executive officer. Keefer had been president and CEO of the Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce in Florida.

Robert E. Croner

has joined the Philadelphia consulting firm HResults Inc. as principal. Croner had been executive vice president and chief human resources officer for Radian Group Inc., Philadelphia.

The Bryn Mawr Trust Co. named

Elizabeth Shevlin Roberts

a vice president in its fiduciary services. She previously was a partner at Fox Rothschild L.L.P. Bryn Mawr Trust also appointed

Christina S. Bergeron

investment officer in its wealth management division. Bergeron had been a research compliance analyst at Susquehanna International Group.

Michael F. Barry

became CEO and president of Quaker Chemical Corp., Conshohocken, last week, replacing

Ronald J. Naples

, who is stepping aside after 13 years, though he remains board chairman. Barry had been senior vice president and managing director - North America.

Michael W. Murray

has joined Hersha Hospitality Management, Philadelphia, as chief operating officer of the hotel management company. Murray, a 27-year hospitality veteran, has experience throughout the United States and Caribbean.

Annette D. Szygiel

was promoted to executive vice president, chief experience officer, and director of corporate planning at Univest Corp., parent company of Univest National Bank and Trust Co. Szygiel was previously senior vice president, director of marketing at Univest.

Eric Swain

was named chief executive of Global Resource Corp., West Berlin, a developer of a patent-pending microwave technology and machinery for extracting oil and gas. Swain joins the company from Morgan Stanley, where he has worked since 1982, most recently as senior vice president.

Patrick Callihan has been appointed executive director of NPower Pennsylvania, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit that assists nonprofit organizations with technology needs. Callihan previously served as marketing director at CAI, a privately held information technology firm in Wilmington.

Joseph M. DiBella

was promoted to executive vice president of the employee benefits consulting practice at Connor Strong, an insurance brokerage in Cherry Hill. Prior to Conner Strong, DiBella worked at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
