Comcast sorry for Super Bowl porn glitch

Comcast Corp. says it is "mortified" over a porn shot that interrupted the Super Bowl for viewers in Tucson, Ariz.

Comcast Corp. says it is "mortified" over a porn shot that interrupted the Super Bowl for viewers in Tucson, Ariz.

One second, Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald was streaking down the field for a touchdown. The next, a young man and woman were seen sitting on a couch. The man's pants came off. There were smiles. Then, back to the Super Bowl.

The interruption lasted about 20 seconds.

Comcast said it was investigating the incident and was confident that its cable systems were not at fault.

"We are mortified by last evening's Super Bowl interruption, and we apologize to our customers," Comcast senior vice president D'Arcy Rudnay said in a statement. "Our initial investigation suggests this was an isolated malicious act. We are conducting a thorough investigation to determine how this happened."

Comcast told the Federal Communications Commission and Arizona officials about the incident, Rudnay said.

Comcast did not say how many customers might have seen the porn clip. Most of Tucson is served by the Cox cable systems, which did not have a problem.

The blogosphere lit up with observations, and the Web site TMZ.com had some fun with the story and posted the clip.
