PhiladelphiaPark sues over Valley Forge slots

PhiladelphiaPark Casino & Racetrack is suing over the award of a state slot-machine gambling license to a nearby hotel and convention center.

PhiladelphiaPark Casino & Racetrack is suing over the award of a state slot-machine gambling license to a nearby hotel and convention center.

The lawsuit by PhiladelphiaPark against the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board became public today. The suit was filed in the state Supreme Court.

PhiladelphiaPark contends that the gaming board made mistakes when it decided in April to award a license to the Valley Forge Convention Center.

It questions whether the partnership that received the slots license owned the entire property, as is required. It also questions whether Valley Forge is a suitable slots location because many of its customers are expected to be drawn from existing casinos.

Gaming board spokesman Doug Harbach says the agency will vigorously defend the correctness of its decision.
