The Transportation Department said 79.9 percent of flights departed within 15 minutes of the scheduled departure in August in Philadelphia, an improvement over the 77.9 percent that left on time in August 2008.
US Airways Group, Philadelphia's largest airline, reported 81.4 percent of flights arrived on time in August. Southwest Airlines Co. reported 82.8 percent on-time arrivals.
In consumer complaints, US Airways had 1.10 consumer complaints per 100,000 passengers, an improvement over the 2.47 complaint rate last August. In baggage handling, US Airways also improved year-over-year. The airline posted a mishandled baggage rate of 2.9 reports per 1,000 passengers in August, compared with 4.15 reports in August 2008. - Linda Loyd
