The Committee of Seventy, a nonpartisan organization fighting for clean and effective government, fair elections and a better informed citizenry in Philadelphia and the region, has elected Susanne Svizeny and Judith S. Spires to its executive committee. Svizeny is executive vice president, commercial division manager, wholesale banking, at Wachovia, a Wells Fargo company, Plymouth Meeting and Philadelphia. Spires is president of Acme Markets Inc., Malvern.

The Philadelphia Sports Congress, a division of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, has named David Montgomery chairman, succeeding Robert   P. Levy. Montgomery is general partner, president and chief executive officer of the Philadelphia Phillies. Rear Admiral Tom Lynch (Ret.), cochairman of the Philadelphia Army/Navy Host Committee, managing director of the Musser Group and managing director at Jones Lang LaSalle, was named vice chairman.

David Gutin, a partner at the law firm Astor, Weiss, Kaplan & Mandel L.L.P., Philadelphia, has been named to the board of trustees of Jewish Senior Housing and Healthcare Service, a nonprofit organization.

Richard M. Lam, a real estate appraiser and president of Richard M. Lam & Associates Ltd., Conshohocken, has been nominated by Gov. Rendell and confirmed by the Pennsylvania Senate as a member of the board of State Certified Real Estate Appraisers, the association responsible for regulating and enforcing the profession.

Art-Reach, a nonprofit that makes cultural experiences more accessible to people with disabilities and economic disadvantages, has named Karen E. Feeney and Richard A. Couch to its board. Feeney is division training manager at SCA Tissue North America, Philadelphia. Couch is a pharmaceutical consultant based in Bryn Mawr.

The Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey chapter of American Jewish Committee, an international Israel and human rights advocacy group, has elected the following officers and members to its board:

James A. Rosenstein, a lawyer with the Center City law firm Fineman, Krekstein & Harris P.C., is chairman.

Thomas H. Tropp, a lawyer in private practice at Thomas H. Tropp, Attorney-at-Law, Philadelphia, is president.

Harold B. Yaffe, coproprietor of The Dental Spa, is emeritus and advisory committees chairman.

Louis Marks is Of Counsel in the business department of the Center City law firm Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads L.L.P.

Peter Yaffe is president of Capitol Strategies Group L.L.C., Harrisburg.

Metropolitan Career Center, a Philadelphia nonprofit training and educational organization, has elected Ann Lanahan Gill president. She succeeds Rob Croner, who has served for two years. Gill is senior vice president and managing director for the Midlantic Institutional Banking Group at Wachovia.

Tanya Andrews was elected to a three-year term. She is business systems planning/service operations director for the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Cos.

Mitchell L. Morgan has been named to the board of trustees of the National Museum of American Jewish History, a nonprofit organization. He is the president and CEO of Morgan Properties, King of Prussia.

Rachel Newman Schwartz has joined the board of Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse Inc., a nonprofit Philadelphia organization. She is director of marketing for Newman & Co. Paperboard, Philadelphia, and was formerly senior director of product development for Atlantic Records in New York.

Business Leaders Organized for Catholic Schools, a Philadelphia nonprofit fund-raising group, has named these officers and members to its board:

Cardinal Justin Rigali, Archbishop of Philadelphia, Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is honorary chairman.

Alvin A. Clay 3d is CEO of Davidson Trust Co., Devon.

Bishop Joseph P. McFadden is auxiliary to the Archbishop of Philadelphia, Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
