South Jersey Industries said today that solar panels at two of its facilities are now operating and generating electricity.

The utility said that 210 panels installed at its headquarters in Folsom, Atlantic County, should generate 60,000 kilowatt-hours a year, and will be used to help operate the building.

And the company's McKee City location now has 2,772 ground-mounted solar panels covering about two acres and expected to generate about 886,000 kilowatt-hours in its first year to be used to run that facility.

The panels were installed and are being maintained by Marina Energy, a SJI subsidiary.

The company provides natural gas, electricity and related services to 340,000 residential and commercial customers in parts of Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties and all of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem Counties.
